About me

ACTRESS, STUDENT, SINGER, DANCER. ARTIST.

BIOGRAPHY:

I am a high school junior from Mexico City, currently attending Idyllwild Arts Academy in Idyllwild, California as a Theatre major with a Musical Theatre emphasis. I have always been interested in the arts, studying several types of dance from the age of three, singing from the age of nine, playing piano and guitar from the age of ten, and acting from the age of fourteen. My family has always encouraged me to be involved in the arts and have supported me to travel and study wherever I want to. I am not only interested in performing, but I am also interested in other fields of theatre such as playwriting and stage managing. I have performed in over 10 straight and musical theatre productions and am currently the stage manager for a devised musical in Idyllwild, which will open in May. I seek to continue my career as a theatre artist throughout college, in addition to pursuing a degree in law as well.

PERSONAL STATEMENT:

In the next 3-5 years, I plan to attend a University and do either a double major, or a major and a minor in Musical Theatre and English literature. I want to keep growing and building a career as an artist, at the same time as I am continuing to grow as a scholar and in the academic field. I love not only being a performing artist, but also writing and creating work for myself, and for others. My love for performing is just as great as my love for English and literature, and while being in college I hope to find a way to incorporate both of them into my adult and professional life. I am looking forward to being an artist even when working and learning in an academic field.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

As a Theatre artist, I seek find my way into the secrets of the truth of life; the beauty of it, the reality, and the harshness of what it is and those who live it. The truth is often conveyed by artists through violence and gross, unfiltered realism that can, at times, rather than move the audience and make them reflect on life, make them feel disturbed. I strive to be able to convey the truth by being human when performing, and to write scripts with human characters that are part of a situation that makes the audience think about their experience as people and living in this world. A quote by Beethoven reads: “Don't only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets”. I work to make my way through to the secrets of what humanity is, and to make them available to the audience in a way that they can see the truth; for them to see their lives reflected on the stage, no matter who they are, and to think about who they are as a member of the society that we live in. To create more awareness of our presence and impact on the world and our relationships with others.
